NAS Whidbey Support Intervention

The Issue

Our Goal.

We want resident civilian representation at the federal district court hearing.  Currently a small minority of residents on Whidbey Island (COER) have filed a lawsuit in conjunction with the State of Washington Attorney Generals office.   The lawsuit is investigating whether or not the noise of the F-18 Growler is excessive after a 7 year environmental impact study was conducted and signed off by all parties.

COER is a small group of Whidbey Island residents that are anti-Navy and currently questioning the Administration Procedure Act, regarding a National Environmental Policy Act process that the Navy conducted in a transparent way.  It was to prove there was no evidence of environmental or human damage that would take place within the operations.

We support our military in Oak Harbor and are asking local residents to sign a petition to send to the courts in support.  We enjoy the sound of freedom, we support our military and the noise levels are not what they claim.  Our local environmental impact is not what they say.  I see deer, bald eagles, squirrels, fish, and yes “sea birds” you name it all over the place.  Don’t let this small COER group win in court, this anti-Navy group that have made it known to locals they don’t want the Navy here, period.   We need our voices heard, the majority of the island loves our military presence.

We need your support to intervene in the court so that the majority of island residents are heard by the judge.  Those that support NAS Whidbey that live on Whidbey, let’s send the Attorney General Bob Ferguson a message.

What can we do?

We can make our combined voices louder than "Sound Defense Alliance" and COER. Sign this petition, share with your network to call on our elected leaders: Governor Jay Inslee, Congressmen Rick Larsen, Derek Kilmer, Adam Smith and U.S. Senators Maria Cantwell and Patty Murray to speak up for us, the silent majority to the US District Courts.

Share your stories of support.  Whidbey Island is a great place to live and enjoy the sounds of freedom.

How can you help?

We have started a local GoFundMe account that's being monitored by a group of us, to hire an attorney to intervene and represent Island residents in support of our NAS Whidbey military base at the US district court.
