Every day hundreds of consumers that utilise the public transporation system in Guyana are faced with discomfort and risk of losing their lives especially while travelling in minibuses. Guyana is ranked among the top countries in the world that have not undertaken sufficient efforts to reduce accidents, in keeping with the UN strategy. Collecting reliable data is essential to improving road safety and reducing risks for pedestrians, also. Education plays a great part. The public transporation system of any country plays an essential part in that country's development. 

We are calling on the relevant authorities to implement better regulations that would improve this system in the form of:

1. Education and training for bus drivers/conductors on areas like customer service and how to deal with emergency situations.

2. Conducting background checks on bus drivers/conductors as a requirement to obtain a driver's licence.

3. More cameras on the roadways to monitor the buses.

4. Frequent physical surveillance of the buses on the roadway by the relevant ministry officials.

5. Online Reporting platform for consumers to report delinquent drivers and conductors.

It is important that these regulations be implemented! Guyana's Public Transportation System must improve! No more lives should be lost because of careless and reckless drivers!
