The Issue

We, the undersigned residents and community members, are requesting immediate traffic safety improvements at the pedestrian crossing along Church Road near the Amberfield and Ramblewood neighborhoods in Mount Laurel Township.

This area has become increasingly dangerous for pedestrians, families, runners, cyclists, school-aged children, and residents attempting to safely cross or travel along Church Road. Vehicles frequently travel at excessive speeds, and drivers regularly misuse the roadway configuration — particularly the right-turn lane into the neighborhood, which is often used improperly as a through lane. This creates confusion, aggressive merging, and unsafe conditions for both drivers and pedestrians.

The situation is made worse by the absence of sidewalks along this heavily traveled roadway. Residents are often forced to walk near moving traffic with little protection or separation from vehicles.

We respectfully request that Mount Laurel Township and the appropriate county traffic agencies evaluate and implement meaningful safety improvements at this location, including consideration of:

  • Installation of flashing pedestrian beacons
Installation of Dynamic speed display signs (DSDS)
Reduced vehicle speeds and enhanced speed enforcement
Improved lane designation markings and signage
Installation of sidewalks or protected pedestrian pathways

The Amberfield community and surrounding residents and businesses deserve safe access through their neighborhood without fear of speeding traffic or dangerous roadway conditions. We urge township and county officials to prioritize this matter before a serious injury occurs.

We ask fellow residents and concerned community members to support this effort by signing below.

Let’s work together to make Church Road safer for everyone.
