Improve women’s health in the UK and globally

Improve women’s health in the UK and globally

The Issue

I have struggled with endometriosis, adenomyosis, and painful bladder syndrome, and I know how hard it is to be heard. These conditions have significantly affected my quality of life, yet it took years to receive a proper diagnosis and adequate support. Unfortunately, my story is not unique. Millions of women across the globe face similar challenges, enduring debilitating pain and dismissed symptoms due to systemic gaps in women’s healthcare.

In the UK alone, 1 in 10 women suffer from endometriosis, yet it takes an average of 8 years to receive a diagnosis. This delay is unacceptable and highlights a critical need for heightened awareness, better training for healthcare professionals, and more funding for research dedicated to women’s health issues. Conditions such as adenomyosis and painful bladder syndrome are similarly under-researched and misunderstood, leaving sufferers with inadequate treatment options.

Globally, the situation is even more dire in low and middle-income countries, where access to women’s health services is limited and cultural stigmas further hinder timely medical intervention. According to the World Health Organization, women in these regions are less likely to receive quality healthcare, increasing the burden of unmanaged chronic conditions.

We need a change in the perception and prioritization of women’s health. By investing in comprehensive education and training programs for healthcare providers, increasing funding for research into women-specific conditions, and fostering global partnerships to improve healthcare access, we can dramatically alter outcomes for millions of women.

Join us in urging the UK Department of Health and Social Care and international health organizations to prioritize women’s health by signing this petition. We can no longer afford to ignore the voices of those suffering in silence. Together, we can ensure that women everywhere receive the care they deserve.
