Improve Train Service and Accessibility at Norwood Junction

Improve Train Service and Accessibility at Norwood Junction

The Issue

Everyday, countless parents and elderly individuals and Disabled customers struggle to adequately use the train services at Norwood Junction. Their struggle is derived not only from the sparse and unreliable train arrival schedule, but also from the lack of lift access to platforms rendering this integral amenity nearly inaccessible for those in need. I witness these struggles daily and understand the urgency of this issue.

With the expansion of East Croydon and surrounding areas, As well as the redevelopment of Crystal Palace Selhurst football stadium it is vital that we continue to expand upon improving the infrastructure and accessibility for the increased football and demand that this will bring.

In 2019, the Department for Transport found that improving accessibility in transport services significantly boosted the overall experience of travelers, especially those with restricted movement and disabilities. Also, according to an analysis performed by National Rail, enhancing the reliability of services in a train station builds commuters' trust and satisfaction.

In correspondence with these findings, we request that Norwood Junction station administrators increase the frequency of stopping train services. We also call for immediate actions that pave the way for lift or ramp access to platforms. Let's make our train station inclusive and accessible for everyone, with dependable services that commuters can rely upon. We urge you to sign this petition to effectuate this crucial change.
