My friends and I, along with many other students at Ferson Creek Elementary School in St. Charles, IL, have experienced many instances of falling ill due to our school's poor quality of food. This is not just a matter of taste or preference. It's a serious health concern affecting our learning and thriving ability.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), healthy eating can help children maintain a healthy weight, avoid certain health problems, stabilize their energy, and sharpen their minds, however, when schools fail to provide nutritious meals that meet federal nutrition standards as is currently happening at Ferson Creek Elementary. They are failing us students.

We believe every child deserves access to healthy meals at school. It's time for Ferson Creek Elementary School administrators to prioritize student health by improving the quality of food in our cafeteria.
