As a resident of Sanatoga, PA who pays a premium for luxurious living conditions and as an owner of a puppy in training to be an emotional support animal, I find the current state of our local dog park unacceptable. Our dogs need safe and clean open spaces to run around, socialize with other animals and people.

The mulch currently used in the dog park is unsafe. It's dirty, wet and retains water especially after it rains. This not only creates an unhygienic environment but also poses potential health risks for our pets. Furthermore, due to its color and texture, it becomes difficult to spot when dogs defecate on it - leading to further sanitation issues when owners fail to clean up after their pets. Turf would be a much luxurious and suitable replacement for the mulch.

Additionally, there have been instances where non-residents have used the space without curbing their animals properly. This misuse can be prevented by installing cameras for monitoring purposes and a gate with butterfly access control system which will ensure that only residents can use the park.

Lastly but importantly is the need for maintenance facilities such as hoses for easy cleaning which would greatly improve hygiene standards at the park with the turf material.

According to American Pet Products Association (APPA), 67% of U.S households own at least one pet (2020). Therefore this issue affects majority of residents in our community who deserve better amenities considering what we pay for housing here.

It's time we take action not just for us but also our beloved pets who deserve nothing less than safe and clean environments where they can thrive. Please sign this petition urging local authorities in Sanatoga PA to improve conditions at our dog park.
