Improve Sunbury's Bus Service

Improve Sunbury's Bus Service
The issue
The current state of the Sunbury Bus Service has left a significant portion of our community without proper access to essential transportation. Families, students, and workers alike are struggling to connect with the resources and opportunities they need due to the limited and inconvenient bus schedules. Many people, especially those who rely on public transportation as their primary mode of travel, are disproportionately affected by the current inadequacies of the bus service. This includes residents who need to commute to work, students who require transportation to educational institutions, and elderly individuals who depend on the bus service for their daily activities. It is evident that the lack of a comprehensive and accessible bus service is hindering the overall well-being and progress of our community.
The stakes in resolving the issue at hand are high. Access to reliable and convenient transportation is not just a matter of convenience but also a matter of fundamental equality and accessibility. Without an improved bus service, members of our community are facing limited job opportunities, reduced access to educational institutions, and a diminished quality of life. Many are forced to rely on costly alternatives - of which, aren't always available. If things remain unchanged, we risk perpetuating a cycle of disadvantage that affects the socio-economic development of Sunbury as a whole. On the other hand, by addressing this issue and enhancing the bus service, we can empower residents with more freedom, improved access, and increased opportunities to thrive whilst taking more cars off our roads and out of the center of Sunbury.
FlexiRide is an on-demand bus service. FlexiRide has no fixed route and only operates when booked. Passengers can book a trip from their nearest physical or virtual bus stop and travel to or from the designated FlexiRide bus hubs in the same service area.
The need for immediate action is more pressing than ever. The recent implementation of FlexiRide services in other parts of Metro Melbourne has demonstrated the potential for a responsive and user-centric public transportation solution. Sunbury deserves a similar solution that caters to the diverse needs of our community. The availability of FlexiRide services in Sunbury could revolutionize our transportation system by providing a door-to-door service that is both efficient and accessible. By seizing this moment to revamp our bus service, we can bridge the existing gaps in accessibility and bring about positive change for everyone. The investment in an improved Sunbury Bus Service is not just an investment in transportation but also an investment in the prosperity, inclusivity, and connectedness of our community. Let us come together to advocate for an enhanced and more direct bus service that reflects the needs of Sunbury's residents and paves the way for a brighter future.
I am seeking the immediate improvement of our bus network by way of the replacement of our current timetabled bus service for the permanent introduction of FlexiRide into Sunbury, servicing our community between 5am-11pm 7 days a week, complimented by a "Sunbury Loop" service similar to that of 380 Ringwood - Croydon Loop (https://www.ptv.vic.gov.au/route/8132/ringwood-croydon-loop/ This will provide passengers with greater coverage and accessibility without running countless empty busses throughout the currently timetabled day.
