SUDEP, or Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy, is a significant cause of mortality in people with epilepsy, accounting for up to 18% of deaths in this population (Source: National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke). Despite this, awareness about SUDEP among patients, their families, and even healthcare professionals is remarkably low. The city of Arab, Alabama, is no different. This petition aims to bridge this gap, advocating for better SUDEP education in Arab. Improved understanding of SUDEP will lead to better management of epilepsy and contribute to saving lives.
