The Issue

Living in Fuquay Varina ETJ, specifically near the growing Spence Farm Rd area, has been a rewarding experience for my family and me. However, with the recent surge in development and traffic, our once quiet neighborhood, is facing safety concerns that are deeply personal to me. As a resident, the safety of my family and neighbors is of paramount importance.

The increase in traffic along Spence Farm Rd due to ongoing and future developments has raised significant safety issues, particularly when vehicles travel at high speeds. Despite being a residential area, the current speed limit does not adequately account for the neighborhood's increase in commuters and lacks critical safety measures, such as effective speed regulation and accessible stop signs.

Given these pressing concerns, I am urging the Town of Fuquay Varina's Extra-Territorial Jurisdiction (ETJ) and the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NC DOT) to seriously consider our request for an immediate assessment of Spence Farm Rd. We believe that a reduction of the speed limit to 35 or 40 miles per hour would offer a more sensible and safer environment for both drivers and residents. Additionally, placing a stop sign outside the McKenzie subdivision, where a blind driveway currently poses a hazard, could significantly mitigate potential accidents and improve overall safety.

The changes proposed are practical and relatively simple to implement, yet they promise to have a profound impact on those living in and commuting through this area. Authorities must recognize this opportunity to proactively prevent accidents and enhance the quality of life for all residents.

I urge fellow residents, commuters, and anyone concerned about road safety to support this essential initiative. Your signature on this petition will amplify our collective voice in making real, tangible change. Please sign and help prioritize the safety of our community.
