Improve Road Safety for Pedestrians in Leigh Sinton, Malvern

The Issue

I am a resident of Leigh Sinton, Malvern, and I walk my 4-year-old son to school along our village's main road. This should be a simple task, but instead it is fraught with danger. Large vehicles and cars speed past us without any safety barrier for protection. Walking with a small child on this footpath becomes an extremely stressful experience.

This footpath is also frequented by the elderly and vulnerable members of our community who face the same risks. Our village feels more like a race track than a safe place to live.

The lack of pedestrian safety measures around Leigh & Bransford School and the other residential areas of the village is alarming. According to Department for Transport statistics (2019), there were 25,975 serious injuries in reported road traffic accidents in the UK - many involving pedestrians.

We are calling on local authorities to implement better road safety measures such as speed limit enforcement, installation of pedestrian barriers, engineered traffic calming measures and improved signage to ensure that all residents can safely navigate our streets.

We cannot wait until tragedy strikes before action is taken. We urge you to sign this petition today and help make Leigh Sinton safer for everyone who lives here or walks its roads.
