Improve Road, Pedestrian, and Cyclist Safety on North Raymond Avenue in Pasadena
The Issue
(Picture of flipped car is in front of Washington School which should terrify anyone)
As residents of Pasadena and in particular Council District 1, many residents live and breathe the dangerous daily reality of navigating North Raymond Avenue.
Our personal experiences and shared stories highlight a pressing issue that affects our neighborhood - the need for improved road safety(drivers, pedestrians and cyclist) on North Raymond Avenue in Pasadena.
Our concerns are not unfounded. According to local reports, there have been numerous traffic-related incidents recently.
Including a fatality that took the lives of two innocent people.

A crosswalk at Grandview and Raymond Ave in front of Washington School has been in disrepair, with bullet holes on the control box and paper signs of it being inoperable, recently being posted.
There's no timeline of when the crosswalk lights stopped working, but estimates are many years. Lack of records by the city only shed more light on the issues around pedestrian safety in the city of Pasadena. No estimate of when the crosswalk will be repaired or replaced. Residents are obviously furious.
Many incidents go unreported including speeding and reckless driving.
This is a clear indication that current measures are inadequate to ensure our safety and the safety of all who use this road as drivers, pedestrians and cyclist.
We believe that enforcing speed limits, installing more visible signage, bollards, speed humps and tables, enhancing pedestrian crosswalks, LED enhanced stop signs, and other measures can help to reduce these incidents.
By doing so, we not only protect ourselves but also contribute to making Pasadena a safer place for everyone.
We urge city officials to take immediate action on this matter. The wellbeing of residents in Pasadena and District 1 should never be compromised due to neglect or oversight.
Let's work together towards creating safer streets for all Pasadenans.
Please sign this petition if you believe in a safer North Raymond Avenue for us all.
