Improve Precalculus Mathematics Instruction by Dr. Billy Jackson
The Issue
As a student in the Precalculus Mathematics course (Math 121 2PM Section) led by Dr. Billy Jackson, I, along with many of my peers, am experiencing a significant struggle in understanding key concepts. This struggle, I believe, is a consequence of the inability of our professor, Dr. Jackson, to provide clear and thorough explanations of the subject matter. Notably, his handwriting contributes to these issues, making it hard to follow through with his explanations.
In a subject as intricate and foundational as Precalculus Mathematics, a slight misunderstanding can lead to larger gaps in knowledge. For many of us, this course is a stepping stone to future mathematical and scientific endeavors, and it's crucial to acquire a comprehensive understanding of this subject.
Moreover, this is not a struggle faced only by a few. In informal polls among my peers, the overwhelming majority echo the same problems. Yet, we all agree that the issue here is not the complexity of the subject, but the instruction and methods followed by Dr. Jackson.
We write this petition in the hope that our collective voices will instigate a change in instructional methods and lead to more effective teaching and, ultimately, better understanding of the subject for us all.
For the sake of future study, we urge the math department to take our concerns seriously and to take steps to improve the instructional quality of Precalculus Mathematics by Dr. Billy Jackson. Please sign this petition to make our math learning experience better.
