Students in Clock Tower Residence Hall, O'Connor Hall buildings, and other nearby buildings often cannot find parking at night because nearby lots are full and the York lot is no longer available. This forces students to walk long distances across campus late at night in snow and icy conditions, with no way to access the tunnel system at night or from the stadium. This increases the risk of slipping, falling, and other weather related hazards, as well as personal safety concerns.

This also puts added strain on an already understaffed Campus Safety team that may be asked to transport students from distant lots back to their dorms. Students already pay a good amount for a parking permit each year. It's unfair that students are being ticketed when we try to use the closest lots like York, forcing us to give up our safety and convenience by walking across campus in harsh conditions, even after paying for a parking permit.

Solution: Reopen the York lot for overnight use or build additional parking near the Clock Tower area to improve nighttime safety.
