The Issue

Dunston Park should be a safe, welcoming, and well-maintained space for local residents, children, and families in Gateshead. With its potential to be a cornerstone of our community, it is crucial that attention is given to restoring and upgrading this valuable public asset.

Unfortunately, for far too long, Dunston Park has been plagued by issues that have distressed many residents. Poor maintenance has left the greenery and play areas in disrepair, while litter has regrettably become a common sight. Moreover, the prevalence of anti-social behaviour in certain parts of the park has deterred families and individuals from enjoying its open spaces. The current lack of modern facilities, particularly for children and young people, further underlines the need for immediate improvements.

I propose a series of actions to sustain and enhance the quality of Dunston Park. Regular maintenance schedules should be established to keep the park clean and appealing. The introduction of community watch initiatives could help deter anti-social behaviour, creating a sense of shared ownership. Additionally, consulting with families and young people to ensure that new facilities meet their needs will be invaluable in making Dunston Park a true family-friendly venue.

Support me in this noble cause to transform Dunston Park into the pride of our community. Sign this petition to urge local authorities and stakeholders to commit to a comprehensive and sustained improvement plan for Dunston Park. Your signature is a vital step towards a brighter future for our shared public space.
