Diana Burleson's tragic death in a car accident at the intersection of Highway 6 and FM 2549 between Bryan, TX and Hearne, TX underscored a lurking danger that we, the citizens of Robertson County in Texas, face every day.  

The escalating number of accidents and fatalities on this stretch of roadways has left our community shocked, saddened and concerned for our own safety. The current speed limit, the inadequate police presence, and a shortage of stoplights at crucial junctures are breeding a lethal mix of circumstances that endanger drivers, passengers, and pedestrians alike.  Especially with so many college student attending nearby colleges.  Hwy 6 is a major corridor in the State of Texas that has seen too many tragedies.

We are asking for your support by signing the attached petition to get TXDot, Robertson County and the State of Texas to implement the following measures as soon as possible:

• Decrease the speed limit: [Reduce Speed Limit to 55-60 mph]
• Increase law enforcement presence: [High Level of Enforcement]
• Install stoplights or over passes at critical intersections such as the Hwy 6 corridor from Bryan to Hearne, the Intersection at Hwy 6 & FM 2549, and Hwy 6 corridor leading up to OSR.

No more lives should be lost to negligence and apathy. We urge everyone in the State of Texas to sign this petition. Let's remember Diana Burleson (and others that have senselessly lost their lives along this stretch of highway) and instigate change for a safer commute on Highway 6.
