Implement Transparent Governance and Safeguarding Policies in ISKCON London

Implement Transparent Governance and Safeguarding Policies in ISKCON London
The Issue
I am a member of the East London Bhakti Vriksha (ISKCON London) community, a group which regularly interacts with vulnerable adults and children.
The absence of transparent policies presents not only potential harm to these individuals but also poses significant risk to the reputation of ISKCON itself.
Recently, an incident occurred that highlighted the lack of clear governance and safeguarding policies within our community. A safeguarding issue was raised, involving a East London Bhakti Vriksha (ISKCON London) Leader, which was dismissed and covered up rather than being acknowledged. The referral was never investigated and the vulnerable adult was therefore failed by East London Bhakti Vriksha (ISKCON London).
The end result is an unhealthy organisation, which dismisses any suggestions of improper behaviour and discourages those who witness concerning situations from bringing them to the attention of anyone else in the community out of fear of retribution, mistreatment or being labelled as a villian simply for raising a concern.
This incident underscores the urgent need for transparency and accountability within our organization. Without documented governance and safeguarding policies, it is impossible to ensure that all members are protected and that any issues are handled appropriately. The group works with our children, our vulnerable adults and carries the reputation of ISKCON, leveraging its good standing.
We must take immediate action to rectify this situation. We call on East London Bhakti Vriksha (ISKCON London) to publish clear governance structures detailing reporting procedures for any issues arising within our community. Furthermore, we demand comprehensive safeguarding policies be put in place immediately.
By signing this petition, you are supporting transparency, accountability, and safety for all members of the East London Bhakti Vriksha community, the wider ISKCON community and all members of the public who interact with East London Bhakti Vriksha (ISKCON London).
