Implement the Teaching of the Bible in Public Schools

As someone who values the significant role that the Bible has played in the historical foundation of the United States, I believe it is crucial that this text is taught in public schools as an integral part of American history and the establishment of our country. The Bible has profoundly influenced our nation's founding principles and continues to provide a framework for understanding citizenship in the U.S. Requiring that the Bible be taught alongside the U.S. Constitution would thus strengthen students' grasp of our nation's origins, ethos, and guiding principles.
Including the Bible as a historical document in history education is not unprecedented. In Texas, for example, hundreds of school districts have introduced Bible literacy courses under a state law passed in 2007 (Source: Texas Freedom Network Education Fund). This serves to show that it is indeed possible to educate students about the Bible in a non-devotional manner that respects the First Amendment.
We respect the diversity of our nation and this petition is not intended to impose one religion over others. Teaching the Bible as a historical text, rather than a religious one, is a way of honoring its profound influence on the founding and development of our nation, not promoting any one faith tradition.
This initiative is all about allowing students to gain a well-rounded, comprehensive understanding of U.S. history. We believe that every student deserves this kind of rigorous, thorough education. Knowledge is the first step towards understanding, and understanding is essential for fostering unity and harmony in our diverse nation.
Please sign the petition to require all public schools to teach the Bible as a historical text, alongside learning the U.S. Constitution in history class.
