Scratch, a free programming community website, has become an essential platform for young learners to express creativity and learn coding. However, the current system is susceptible to abuse by mass reporters who can unjustly take down projects. This petition calls for the Scratch team to implement stronger measures against mass reporting and ensure that projects are not taken down without proper investigation.

Mass reporting is a form of cyberbullying that hinders the creative process and discourages users from sharing their work. According to Cyberbullying Research Center, about 34% of students have experienced cyberbullying during their lifetime (Cyberbullying Research Center). The lack of proper control over mass reporting on Scratch contributes to this statistic.

We urge the team behind Scratch to review their policies regarding reports and develop a more robust system that can differentiate between genuine concerns and attempts at harassment or sabotage.
