Implement Stricter Legal Rights and Monitoring for Home Swap or Exchange Programs

The Issue

We need to stop 24 hours pull out from home swap or exchanges in the UK …

In the current housing climate in the UK, many families find themselves homeless, overcrowded, or living in unsuitable accommodation. People like myself work extremely hard, but it is impossible for us to get onto the housing ladder and pay rent at the same time. We are bound to affordable accommodation supplied by the government.

Due to these inflations, waiting lists for transfers and suitable properties have quadrupled. Many of us are  taking part of a mutual exchange scheme that is supposed to provide relief from this situation.

However, we believe there needs to be more controlled and monitored legal rights within these home swap or exchange programs.

There also needs to be an ethical time frame of when people can pull out of a house swap before causing distress to others parties and there families.
some people are pulling out of house exchanges on the same day of moving.
This needs to be monitored and controlled, as it’s causing loss of earnings for some parties, distress within the family home. Children missing out on education etc

I believe that  to cancel an house exchange.
The party should write a written request within 7 to 10 days before move in date and this should be compulsory.

According to Shelter England (2019), 1 in every 200 people in England is homeless or living in inadequate homes. This statistic highlights how crucial it is that we ensure all home swap programs are fair and beneficial for those involved.

We need your support to urge lawmakers to implement stricter legal rights and monitoring systems within home swap or exchange programs. This will not only protect individuals involved but also help alleviate some of the pressures on our current housing crisis.

Please sign this petition if you believe everyone deserves a safe place they can call home.
