This cause is very personal to me because I deeply care for our animal inhabitants and know the silent affliction they face because of coins in wish ponds. Each year, countless coins tossed into wish ponds worldwide can later be ingested by the unsuspecting animals living in or near these ponds. The unfortunate fact is that this simple act, often done without malicious intent, can lead to harmful, and even fatal, consequences for them.

Accidental ingestion of these coins can cause them to choke and is regarded as a leading contributor to unnatural animal death in urban environments. 

Our change begins with recognition of this issue. We must introduce strict regulations against the tossing of coins into wish ponds to protect the well-being of our diverse wildlife. It's time we change our custom of coin wishes for tossing to a more animal-friendly one. We could wish on shooting stars, as a more animal-friendly alternative. Or we can also do a silent wish as an another animal-friendly alternative.
