As a resident of Airdrie, I have personally experienced the consequences of reckless driving on Colliertree Road. My vehicles have been damaged twice due to speeding drivers. The speed at which vehicles travel up and down this road is shocking and it's only a matter of time before an accident occurs.

Colliertree Road is not just a thoroughfare; it's part of our community where children play, families walk, and cyclists ride. It should be safe for everyone who uses it. However, the current speed limit does not reflect this reality.

According to data from the Department for Transport in 2019, speeding was reported as a contributing factor in 17% of fatal accidents in Great Britain (source: Department for Transport). We cannot wait until such an accident happens on our own street before we take action.

We call upon our local council to implement measures that will slow down traffic on Colliertree Road - whether through lowering the speed limit or installing traffic calming measures like speed bumps or chicanes.

This isn't just about protecting property; it's about preserving lives and maintaining the quality of life in our community.
