Implement Speed Humps on Native Corners Road, Campania for Safety and Wildlife Protection

Implement Speed Humps on Native Corners Road, Campania for Safety and Wildlife Protection
The issue
Every day, myself and fellow residents in Campania face potential risk while commuting between Native Corners Road from the corner of Climie Street and Reeve Street, up to number 40 Native Corners. This stretch of road, has turned into an unofficial racetrack, causing a serious risk to the residents in our community and our beautiful wildlife.
Because there are no footpaths on the Native Corners road section, kids and other locals, have no option other than to walk on the road itself. There’s one gentleman who has a motorised wheelchair who travels up and down this road regularly, I can’t even imagine how scary that would be with the speeding cars going by.
Speed humps on this section of road would force vehicles to slow down. This would lessen the risk of potential head on vehicle crashes, injury to pedestrians, including children, and our wildlife.
Over the last 12 months there has been a massive increase in wildlife killed on this section of road. Just over the last month a resident echidna who has been living in the area for years was mowed down, along with a wombat. This is due to the reckless driving of some individuals who continue to speed up and down this section of road.
We hereby petition the Southern Midlands local council to implement speed humps on this stretch of Native Corners Road. These would be an effective measure to regulate the vehicle speed and to ensure the safety of our community, as well as protect our cherished local wildlife. We firmly believe that ensuring speed limits and promoting respect for our communities safety and wildlife, should be a priority.
Change starts with us. It's time for us to demand safer roads, protect our children and save the lives of threatened local species. Please sign this petition and help us make a difference in the Southern Midlands.
