As community members of Walnut Grove, we witness and experience the dangers of speeding on Walnut Grove Drive every day. It affects the safety of not only residents but a variety of community members visiting the area.

Our area boasts a thriving recreation center and library, a bustling high school, and a popular park, all within a 30km zone. However, these public spaces lose their charm due to a daunting issue: speeding. Vehicles are often seen zooming beyond the 30km speed limit, creating a dangerous environment for everyone.

We therefore request the local council to address this critical situation by introducing traffic calming measures

Proposed ideas include:

• Speed Humps
• Large, more visible signage coming from 88th
• Painted cues of 30km zone on the hill from 88th
• Raising the crosswalk and adding additional ones 
• Installing bulb outs at the crosswalk 
• Delineators dividing the double lane traffic 
• 3D ashphalt art or murals to visually slow drivers
• Painted and buffered designated bike lane 
• Turning the crosswalk into a stoplight to help the flow of traffic due to the influx of students before, during break and after school
