I am a local resident deeply concerned about the safety of hundreds of school children and parents who cross Wingfield Road in Trowbridge every day. The lack of speed cameras and traffic calming measures on this busy route puts innocent lives at risk daily.

Statistically, speed cameras have proven to reduce the number of fatal and serious injury collisions by 42% in the UK, according to the RAC Foundation. By installing them on Wingfield Road, we will protect our community members and instil a culture of road safety in our town. Furthermore, traffic calming measures such as speed humps and chicanes have been found to reduce accidents by approximately 44% based on a London study by Transport for London.

The safety of our children and road users should not be negotiable. It's time to advocate for the wellbeing of our community members and work towards a safer Trowbridge. We request that the relevant authorities install speed cameras and traffic calming measures on Wingfield Road promptly.
