My family resides in the serene town of Reynolds, GA. Our home, supposed to be our safe haven, has become an anxiety-inducing space due to the increasing threat posed by speeding cars. Daily, vehicles whizzing past at speeds of 50mph or more have become a common occurrence. We live in fear, less of intruders, but more of the cars that perform dangerous stunts such as donuts right in front of our house or racing down our quiet streets.

This is a problem experienced not only by myself and my family but is a grave concern affecting our entire community. Last year alone, the Governors Highway Safety Association reported a dramatic increase in pedestrian fatalities across Georgia, with speeding being a major cause. Our neighborhood’s lack of speed reduction measures and enforcement puts us all in unnecessary danger.

We appeal to the local government of Reynolds, GA, to implement speed bumps in our neighborhood, especially in residential areas with children or elderly residents. These steps will significantly reduce the speed of vehicles, making our streets safer for everyone.
