I am a concerned parent of children who frequently visit our local park. Every time my children cross the road to reach the park, I fear for their safety due to the excessive speed of cars driving around. Our children's lives are continuously at risk due to this reckless driving. Immediate action is needed. According to the Department of Transportation, speed humps reduce vehicle speeds by up to 9 miles per hour, making environments safer for children and pedestrians (Department of Transportation). Therefore, I urge our local authorities to implement speed bumps in the vicinity of our park and the long stretch of straight road leading away from the park that people speed down. This measure would significantly enhance the safety of our children, instilling peace of mind in parents, and promote a more secure environment.
