On October 23rd, 2024, my peaceful afternoon at Kwinana Dog Park turned into a nightmare when my dog was viciously attacked. This dreadful incident left me with neither the responsible party's information nor any help for my canine companion, but a hefty vet bill of $400. This personal agony isn't unique to me, as it's an unfortunate reality for many other innocent dog owners who frequented this park with their beloved pets.

Kwinana Dog Park, serving as a regular retreat for numerous local residents and their dogs, has witnessed too many of these distressing incidents. Too often, these incidents go unresolved due to lack of evidence, leaving victims burdened with surprise vet costs in addition to the emotional trauma.

The addition of security cameras into this park isn't just about our dogs, but also about our community. The installation of cameras would provide a greater sense of safety and deter potentially irresponsible behavior. Furthermore, CCTV usage in public spaces can significantly aid in resolving disputes and identifying violators. 

With this petition, we are urging the council to install security cameras in Kwinana Dog Park as a measure of securing safety and justice for all, both human and canine. If incidents happen in the future, at least those affected will have the reassurance that justice will be served.
