The Issue

We want BETTER mental health services here - we NEED the Mental Health Strategy to be actioned now TO SAVE LIVES!

Seán’s Law calls for the urgent implementation of the REGIONAL MENTAL HEALTH CRISIS SERVICE - so that those in crisis can receive IMMEDIATELY help and support without delay.

This petition stems from a deeply personal tragedy. Sinead’s precious son, Seán Boyle, tragically ended his own life after enduring years of a mental health crisis. His heartbreaking journey for help was met with brick walls within a failing system. Mental health issues are prevalent, yet, our system remains unable to provide crucial aid. Specifically, the lack of a Regional Mental Health Crisis Service Plan leaves many vulnerable individuals, like Seán, without the immediate intervention, assistance and treatment they desperately need.

We plea to the Department of Health to take immediate action. Implementation of the Regional Mental Health Crisis Service Plan cannot wait any longer. Such a service will provide the necessary infrastructure for acute mental health crises, offering a lifeline to those teetering on the edge, and helping to prevent further tragic losses like that of Seán. We urge the Department of Health to implement Seán’s Law:

The right for ALL person’s in Northern Ireland to access Mental Health Crisis Care in any region/area.  The removal of discriminatory practices whereby your postcode determines the crisis care and mental health support you can access.  The establishment of a Regional Mental Health Crisis Service for Northern Ireland, to include clear pathways to mental health provision and ‘safe spaces’ for those accessing crisis care.

Join us. Lend your voice to our plea. Sign this petition, and together, let's urge the Department of Health to take immediate action for the sake of countless individuals enduring mental health crises. Let's ensure no more lives are lost due to the lack of available assistance.
