Implement School Zone and Bus Stop Sign for Bright Eyed Beginnings in Bay City, TX

The Issue

As a concerned povider and member of Bright Eyed Beginnings in Bay City, Texas, I have been advocating for the safety of our children for over five years. Despite our repeated requests to the city authorities, they have refused to install a school zone sign or a bus stop sign near our early childhood education program.

Every day, three buses stop at this location to pick up and drop off students. One of these buses is specially equipped to cater to all needs and takes longer than usual during loading and unloading times. The absence of appropriate signage not only poses a risk but also fails to acknowledge that this area is frequented by young children.

According to data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), from 2006-2015 there were 301 school-age children killed in school transportation-related crashes; most were walking or waiting at bus stops. This statistic underscores how vital it is for us as a community - as parents - to ensure that we are doing everything possible for our children's safety.

Our city should prioritize protecting its youngest citizens who are indeed its future leaders. We urge you not just as concerned parents but also as responsible citizens who believe in creating safe environments for all residents – especially those most vulnerable among us.

Please join us in urging the city authorities of Bay City, Texas, to install necessary signage around Bright Eyed Beginnings immediately. Sign this petition today!
