I was almost hit checking my mail by a driver who passed another car on the right while speeding excessively. This isn't just an isolated incident; it's a daily occurrence on Arden and Maycroft Roads. Picture children riding bikes, the joy on their faces turning into terror as a vehicle swerves at the last minute. Our neighborhood streets should be safe spaces, yet they have turned into perilous zones due to reckless, speeding drivers.

The intersection of Arden Road and Maycroft Roads has become a danger zone, not only for drivers but for every cyclist, pedestrian, and especially children walking to school. Our community deserves better protection from these irresponsible drivers who prioritize speed over safety.

We can no longer stand by and do nothing.  A "turnaround"/curb at the intersection of Arden and Maycroft Roads will stop or reduce drastically the dangerous build-up of speeding vehicles. A pedestrian/cyclists pathway would be on place as well as a crosswalk to the Arden/Maycroft pathway. These solutions would undoubtedly enhance the safety of all users in our area.

Speed bumps are a very popular suggestion among polled residents. Statistics indicate that speed bumps can reduce the number of collisions by up to 40% and decrease the average speed of vehicles significantly in residential areas. Other cities have successfully implemented such measures, enhancing the safety and well-being of their residents. It's time for us to follow their lead and ensure our streets are as safe as they can be.

We can't ignore the concerns of the many who use these roads daily. It's crucial that we take immediate action to install these safety measures and protect the lives of our loved ones and neighbors. We need changes that'll prevent tragedies before they happen.
