Implement Random Inspections in Foster Homes for Better Child Care

Implement Random Inspections in Foster Homes for Better Child Care

The Issue

The growing issue of overpopulation in foster homes in Franklin County needs immediate attention. It has led to secondary problems including the neglect of foster children, escalating psychological issues among them, and lack of legal accountability towards host families that do not meet required standards. It is essential to affect change by enforcing random bi-weekly check-ups within foster homes by a designated social worker and officer. This will ensure every child receives the proper care they deserve and have a right to. According to Franklin County Children Services, since 2015, 20 children have died in Franklin County Co. Children service custody. (FCCS). By implementing random inspections, foster homes can be regulated better, and overpopulation can be checked. Ensuring the well-being of these vulnerable children should be our supreme priority. Please take the time to sign this petition to press for an effective system that will protect our children and hold host families accountable!

This issue has been brought to attention in light of a civic action project at St.Francis DeSales Highschool in Columbus, Ohio. The young ladies who have been working hard on this project are in support of this petition and believe it is integral to change in Franklin county!
