Implement policies to prioritize human paid labour over technology and volunteers

Implement policies to prioritize human paid labour over technology and volunteers
The Issue
Many individuals have been adversely affected by the increasing reliance on technology, particularly A.I., and the growing use of volunteers in the workforce. The struggle to secure suitable part-time or full-time employment is a testament to this growing issue for numerous Canadians including Albertans. This petition seeks to urge our government to implement policies that prioritize human labour over the excessive use of technology and volunteers.
The rise of A.I. technology has undeniably brought about significant advancements in various sectors. However, it also poses a threat to job security for millions of individuals worldwide, including in Canada. According to the World Economic Forum (WEF), by 2025, machines are projected to perform more current work tasks than humans, a significant shift from the 71% performed by humans as of their 2018 Future of Jobs Report.
Furthermore, while volunteerism plays an essential role in society's development, an over-reliance on it can undermine the value of paid work and contribute further towards unemployment or underemployment.
Companies that generate high profits have the financial capacity and should be encouraged to hire individuals who are seeking employment. Reliance on volunteers and extensive technology should primarily be reserved for non-profit organizations and others who genuinely cannot afford to hire paid staff.
We believe that every individual deserves an opportunity for gainful employment without having their livelihood threatened by technological advancements or unpaid labour.
This petition calls upon our government representatives to strike a crucial balance between technological progress and human labour rights. We urge them to consider not only economic efficiency but also social equity when formulating policies related to employment and technology.
Let's stand together for job security in this era of rapid technological advancement! Please sign this petition today!
