Implement "None Of The Above" Option in Australian Electoral System

Implement "None Of The Above" Option in Australian Electoral System
The issue
With the current system, poorly performing politicians can remain an impediment to Australia's progress for decades.
If, however, there was the option for the average voter to express a vote of no confidence in their local member, politicians would have more direct accountability to those who put them in their privileged position.
I have voted in multiple elections where no candidate truly represents my viewpoints or the interests of people like me. I am forced to pick the "least worst" candidate due to the current compulsory nature of the Australian Electoral system rather than expressing my honest feelings that none of the candidates meet my standards. Australia has one of the most robust democracies in the world, but even in such a democratic nation, there exists room for enhancement.
Compulsory voting has been a part of Australian democracy since it was first established in 1924, seeking to ensure the participation of every eligible voter in the electoral process (Source: 'Compulsory Voting in Australia,' Australian Electoral Commission). However, an aspect that remains overlooked is the absence of a "None Of The Above" option on the ballot.
This addition would allow voters to express their dissatisfaction with the array of candidates provided. Introducing such a method would not undermine our democracy, rather, it would augment it by providing a legitimate platform for voters to express their discontent.
Despite strict compulsory voting laws, the percentage of informal votes in Australia has varied between 3 to 6 percent over the past 50 years (Source: ‘Informal Voting at Federal Elections’ by the Australian Parliamentary Library). A "None Of The Above" option would improve the democratic process by offering a formal route for these voters to express their discontent with the current candidates.
Democracy should encompass the voice of all people, including those dissatisfied with the choices presented. Therefore, it is high time for the Australian Electoral System to accommodate the option to choose "None Of The Above". Join me in advocating for this crucial change. We, the voters of Australia, demand the capability to manifest our discontent formally and legitimately at the ballot box. Please sign this petition to reinforce the democratic principle of adequately representing everyone's views within the Australian Electoral System.
