Secondly, to cease the economic allure for illegal immigration. Therefore, we propose a mandatory minimum sentence of at least one year incarceration for individuals who hire undocumented workers. This step would serve as a deterrent and help curb illegal migration.

Research in various countries have shown that strict enforcement of penalties against employers of illegal immigrants can reduce the flow of illegal immigration (Migration Policy Institute). With this implementation, we aim to strike at the root cause of illegal migration - the promise of employment.
