Implement Mandatory Camera Surveillance in All Childcare Facilities

The Issue

In October 2024, my infant daughter's femur was fractured while in the care of her babysitter. Unfortunately, as babies cannot advocate for themselves, there are no witnesses to corroborate the incident, and despite the presence of significant evidence, a lack of "proof" means justice may remain elusive. Every day, countless parents entrust their precious children in the hands of caregivers, with faith in their capacity and responsibility to protect those who cannot protect themselves. But as it stands, this trust is frequently violated: according to the National Children's Alliance, in 2019 alone, an estimated 678,000 children were victims of abuse in the United States, with children aged under one year having the highest rate of victimization.

With the implementation of mandatory camera surveillance in all childcare facilities, we can try to combat this profound issue. Cameras do not lie, they serve as impartial monitors and have been shown to act as substantial deterrents for potential wrongdoers. Everyone has a responsibility to protect the innocent and deliver justice on behalf of the voiceless. My sincere plea urges change: for the sake of our children, and of a safer future. Please, lend your voice to mine. Sign my petition, and help make our childcare facilities safer places for our children.
