My passion for protecting our Mother Earth has influenced this plea for much-needed change. As an individual deeply invested in the necessity to safeguard our environment, the rampant use of plastic bags and its subsequent pollution is a matter of grave concern. According to the Environmental Protection Agency, less than 5% of plastic bags are recycled annually in the U.S, and single-use plastic bags account for over half of all plastics thrown away (EPA). This waste ends up in our landfills, oceans, and ecosystems, causing harm to the diverse fauna that resides therein.

What's proposed here is the implementation of a new bill that would curtail plastic bag usage significantly. This could be achieved either through a statewide tax on plastic bags or a complete ban.
