The Issue

Wren Eleanor, like many children today, is being exploited online. Every day of her life is documented and shared on the internet by her mother for financial gain. This disturbing practice not only invades Wren's privacy but also exposes her to potential dangers such as pedophiles and traffickers.

In the digital age, children are increasingly vulnerable to online exploitation. A study from the University of Florida found that 92% of toddlers have an online presence before they turn two (University of Florida, 2010). This exposure can have serious repercussions as it leaves a permanent digital footprint that children may not fully understand until they are older.

Moreover, parents profiting from their children's online presence raises ethical concerns around child labor laws. The current legislation does not adequately address this issue, leaving a loophole for parents to exploit their own offspring.

We propose a law preventing children from being posted online before they reach an age where they can comprehend the implications of a digital footprint. Additionally, we urge lawmakers to make it illegal for parents to profit off their child’s growing up on social media platforms.

This petition calls upon lawmakers at all levels - local, state and federal - to take immediate action in protecting our future generations from these harmful practices.

Please sign this petition if you believe in safeguarding our children’s privacy rights and ensuring their safe growth away from prying eyes or predatory intentions.
