Implement Innovative Housing Scheme Benefiting All Generations

The Issue

I want to first start this out with the harsh facts. According to bank rate, you should not spend more than a third of your income after tax on a house, except for a house that's only 425k, (around the avg STARTER HOME), that's 2500 a month for mortgage, that's a income of 7500 a MONTH needed for a STARTER HOME. No wonder the new generations can't afford housing, and why we must change it as soon as possible.

Personal struggles often fuel movements for societal change. I, like many of my generation, grapple with the harsh reality of inflated housing prices. The dream of owning our own homes seems increasingly unattainable. However, we recognize that generational equity is key, and any solution must protect older generations who rely on the equity in their homes for their retirement. Our proposal seeks to strike a fair balance: reducing housing prices by 70%, but compensating current homeowners with 60% of the price reduction.

The need for this change is urgent. For instance, according to the U.S. Census Bureau, average house prices have risen by a staggering 6.4% annually over the past 50 years. However, income has not kept pace with this inflation. Data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics show that the median household income has only risen by 0.2% annually over the same period. This alarming discrepancy is rendering homeownership an impractical goal for many younger individuals, and leading to unsustainable financial stress.

This petition isn't about pushing the burden onto any particular age group, but about redistributing it justly across all generations. We hope it will lay the groundwork for a future where affordable housing is accessible to younger generations, whilst maintaining the financial security of older homeowners.

Take a stand with us for housing affordability and intergenerational solidarity. The solution lies not in blaming each other, but in policy change. Sign the petition and let us move toward a just future for all generations.

And, if you are wondering about finance, we will use the excess income from the Bernie sanders stopping corporate greed act, which you should also sign, to help fund our goal. Thank you to anyone who signs.
