My father was a victim of a scam within a Facebook community group where unscrupulous individuals posed as job recruiters. Scammers are exploiting the trust and camaraderie built in these special interest groups, causing serious harm to unsuspecting victims. This personal experience is not isolated. It represents the experiences of a significant number of Facebook users globally, who fall prey to fraudsters on a daily basis. With more than 1.8 billion people using Facebook groups every month, the sheer potential for scam activity is vast and damaging. Facebook, as the world's largest social media platform, must acknowledge this issue and take prompt, effective action.

We propose that Facebook intensifies its efforts to detect scammers, especially within its groups features. We call for enhanced moderator guidelines, more stringent user verification processes, and improved scam detection algorithms. By doing so, the integrity and safety of Facebook Groups can be upheld.

It is Facebook's corporate responsibility to make its platforms safe and secure for its users. We urge Facebook to act in the best interests of its users and implement these vital improvements.
