Implement Fitness Passport or Equivalent for NDIS Participants

Implement Fitness Passport or Equivalent for NDIS Participants
The issue
As a participant of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), I have personally experienced the financial burden that gym memberships can impose. This cost has also affected many others in my community, leading to their absence from our local gym. We believe that health and fitness should be accessible to everyone, regardless of their financial situation or disability status.
The NDIS was established with the aim of supporting people with disability in Australia, but it currently lacks provisions for affordable fitness options. A Fitness Passport or equivalent would allow us to maintain our physical health without straining our finances. Regular exercise is crucial for maintaining good health and well being, especially for individuals living with disabilities.
Regular physical activity reduces the risk of chronic diseases and improves mental health. However, high costs associated with gym memberships often serve as a barrier preventing NDIS participants from engaging in regular exercise.
We urge the relevant authorities to consider implementing a Fitness Passport or an equivalent program within the framework of NDIS. This initiative would not only promote better health among participants but also foster inclusivity within community fitness facilities.
Please sign this petition if you believe in equal access to fitness facilities for all Australians under NDIS support. Your signature can make a difference!
