Implement Efficient Waste Management Systems.

The Issue

To: Government of the Philippines

From: Citizens of the Philippines

Date: November 7, 2024

ISSUES

The Philippines is among the top waste generators in Southeast Asia, and one of the top contributors to plastic waste pollution in the seas. This is a result of various factors including low recycling rates, issues in collection, and inconsistency in plastic packaging segregation in many local government units (LGU). In far areas, municipalities struggle to implement solid waste management and regular collection services. Some areas are too remote for trucks to pass through, while some areas are undeveloped, making it difficult to access. This results in the piling of uncollected trash, exacerbating flooding and pollution problems.

PUBLIC HEALTH CONCERNS

Many LGU’s lack adequate waste disposal infrastructure, such as landfill sites and recycling facilities. This made dumping and burning the two primary options to dispose of waste, causing environmental harm and health risks.

OUR COMPREHENSIVE PROPOSAL

                      1. SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

• To preserve what is LEFT, RESTORE what's LOST.

• To SAVE and PROTECT wildlife species from land to sea.

• To make a CHANGE.

• To STOP destroying planet earth, instead GO help each other to make a difference.

                       2. TOURISM ECONOMIC SUSTAINABILITY

• To link tourist travel mode in promoting other mainland tourist attractions.

• To promote the island-mainland's cultural tourism to the global market.

• To develop a tangible economic plan that will benefit the wider local communities in line with the tourism industry growth and developments.

• To expand tourist economic growth and infrastructure.
