The Issue

Millions of biological parents and children have suffered the heartbreak of illegal separation due to child welfare malfeasance. This is not just a legal issue, it's a deeply personal and human tragedy that has left countless families shattered, with their bonds severed and their heritage obscured. My heart aches for every parent and child who have been torn apart, left without the knowledge or the means to reconnect, even after passing.

Growing up, I watched families around me torn apart by systems that were supposed to protect us. These families, often already disenfranchised, found themselves further marginalized, stripped of their most basic right - the right to family. Without wills or estate provisions, they are left forever disconnected, unable to pass down even the simplest of legacies to their descendants, who may never know the truth of their origins or the love that should have been their birthright and their  birth inherance rights .

In response to this continuing injustice, I propose a reform in estate and will legislation to specifically address the needs of these individuals. We should enact laws ensuring that any parent or child who was victimized by these illegal separations has the legal framework necessary to secure information and pass on their family history posthumously. This can be accomplished by creating special provisions in estate planning law that automatically initiates an investigation into the backgrounds of separated families, granting access to sealed records or files that could offer closure to those left behind.

Moreover, by holding those responsible for these separations accountable, we can begin the process of justice and healing. Implementing checks within child welfare systems to prevent these separations in the future is essential. We can lobby for government funding to provide legal services to those affected, ensuring they have access to the resources necessary to establish these rights.

This initiative has the power to restore some sense of peace and closure to those families who have lost so much. It can ensure a legacy of truth for future generations and prevent heritage from being erased. Justice might seem a distant hope for many, but with your support, we can bring about meaningful change. Please join me in signing this petition to ensure these families are not forgotten and that their stories and rights endure beyond their lifetime. Together, we can make this vision a reality.
