Hi all,

I have made a small but crucial edit to this petition. Originally, I was addressing the federal Government and Parliament of Australia and was calling for CIRs at the federal level.

Now, I have expanded the scope of this petition to include the Parliament and Government of every State and Territory in Australia. The federal ones are still included. Please note that Prime Minister Anthony Albanese is included as a decision maker along with the Chief Ministers of the ACT and NT, and the Premier of each state.

Each state (QLD, NSW, VIC, WA, SA, & TAS) have their constitution separate to the federal constitution which can be altered through a state-level referendum. The ACT and NT, however, lack their own constitution. Despite that, I am sure that there is still a way for them to implement a version of citizen-initiated referenda.

Please note that I am in the process of setting up a petition to the House of Representatives which be available on the Australian Parliament website. It will call for the federal side of the change.org version (i.e. the you've signed). Stay tuned for an update when it goes live.

Also, there is an e-petition on the QLD Parliament website that calls for the introduction of citizen-initiated referenda in Queensland (state-level).
