The Issue

As a person with a disability, I've experienced first hand the struggle of finding parking in a designated disabled bay only to find it occupied by a vehicle not displaying a disability badge.

This frustration is shared by countless others who rely on these spaces to live their daily lives with dignity and ease. It is shocking and disheartening to see these critical spaces being misused, leaving those of us who genuinely need them in challenging situations.

THE SAINSBURY'S ADVERT ABOUT WAYNE SHOWS HIM PARKED IN A DISABLED SPACE!!!!

This would GENUINELY make money for local councils but also stop people thinking they can park lazely when they are able bodied which we would give everything to be!!!

STRONGER TOGETHER SPREAD THE WORD AND STAND UP TO NARROW MINDED PEOPLE 100%!!!!

Across the United Kingdom, it is estimated that approximately 1 in 5 people live with a disability, and for many, access to disabled parking is not a convenience but a necessity. Statistics from governmental reports illuminate how misuse of these bays leads to increased stress and limited access for many disabled individuals. Despite clear guidelines and penalties, the abuse of disabled parking bays remains rampant.

Current measures to combat this issue are insufficient. While fines exist, they are rarely enforced due to the lack of monitoring, leaving many offenders unpunished. This is where technology can play a vital role. By installing camera systems in disabled parking areas, we can ensure that only vehicles displaying a valid disability badge are occupying these vital spaces. These cameras, equipped with license plate recognition technology, can automatically detect and document violations, leading to immediate fines and a reduction in abuse.

This petition calls upon local councils and government authorities to take concrete action. We urge the implementation of camera systems at all disabled parking bays, accompanied by clear signage informing drivers of the surveillance and potential penalties.

Together, we can make a significant difference in the lives of those with disabilities, ensuring they have the access they rightly deserve. Sign this petition to support the installation of camera enforcement in disabled parking bays nationwide and help protect these essential spaces from misuse.
