Implement a Unified School Curriculum across All Indian Schools
Implement a Unified School Curriculum across All Indian Schools
The Issue
Currently Indian Schools have varying standards for choosing their curriculum between CBSE(India's widespread board), ICSE, State Boards, IB(Globally recognised premium framework), CAIO(Widely recognised by Internation) etc. which creates unequal opportunities, unequal grading systems and introduces friction and restricts mobility for transfer of students schools between different states or different schools in same state. This is also the reason why a Centralised Examination System of JEE/NEET and authorities like NTA exists since there isn't a single curricula for all students to provide a benchmark and leveled playing field for admissions in higher educational institutions.
Where most people cite the common reasons for it are inherently large diversity and culture, the overlooked aspects of it are that how the system does not equalize students. The IB and CAIO curriculums vary significantly from CBSE and ICSE.
The Solution: We urge the Ministry of Education and NCERT implement a single, standardised core curriculum across all Indian schools. The single unified curriculum should be practical and skill focused as per NEP 2020 and on par with Western curriculums like CAIO and IB so that a high quality education is recieved to all students. This will also serve as a leveled playing field for admissions into Higher Educational Institutions based on the performance of students in this unified curricula instead of having separate centralised exams like JEE/NEET etc. managed by NTA which is riddled with inefficiencies and criticised heavily due to paper leaks and systemic issues and resulted in exams for which students study for years burning out their life, time and money.
Why a unified curriculum is necessary:
Equal Opportunity: Every child gets the same quality of education, regardless of their zip code or income.
Fair Competitions: A single syllabus levels the playing field for all national entrance exams.
Smooth Transitions: Families can relocate across India without disrupting their children's schooling.
