Implement a Remembrance Law to Prohibit Protests on Remembrance Day

The Issue

As a former member of the military, I have witnessed firsthand the grief and suffering that conflict brings. I have lost friends,  who bravely fought for their country. Every year, on Remembrance Day, we take time to reflect and remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice. This day is not just for one nation or one group; it's a global commemoration for all lives lost in conflicts, irrespective of race or religion or what side people where on.

However, recent years have seen this sacred day marred by protests and demonstrations. While freedom of speech is an essential right in our society, there should be respect for times and places where silence should prevail to honor those who are no longer with us and to reflect and learn from the past.

Therefore, we propose implementing a "Remembrance Law," which would prohibit any form of protest on Remembrance Day. This law would ensure that this day remains dedicated solely to remembering the fallen soldiers and civilians from all corners of the world.

According to data from The National Archives UK (2018), over 16 million people died during World War I alone - an indication of how many lives were affected by just one conflict in our history. It's crucial that we preserve the sanctity of days like these as they provide us with an opportunity not only to remember but also learn from our past.

We urge lawmakers worldwide to consider this proposal seriously - let's keep Remembrance Day as a solemn occasion dedicated purely for reflection and remembrance without any distractions or disruptions.
