Superior, Wisconsin has a rich history, vibrant community, and scores of stories to its name. However, these traits are not fully represented because we have not a flag of our own . A well-designed, compelling flag could effectively convey our history and values, boosting civic pride and fostering a stronger community identity.

Cities with distinct, well-designed flags, such as Chicago and Denver, have seen their flags become beloved symbols of their metropolises and inspire art and clothing. Superior, too, could gain such an emblem. Therefore, we propose holding a publicly available competition where residents can design a flag that reflects our city's identity. This competition will span approximately 10 weeks, allowing sufficient time for thoughtful designs, and end with a committee refining the winning entry to ensure it is unique and interesting.
