Implement a Proper Windfall Tax on Excess Profits of Utility & Energy Companies.

Implement a Proper Windfall Tax on Excess Profits of Utility & Energy Companies.
The Issue
Drawing from my own experiences and those of fellow Britons, we are all witnessing a concerning trend. We are burdened by rising utility costs while energy companies and corporations report lavish excess profits. Simultaneously, austerity looms large, aggravated by a persisting cost of living crisis. The unprecedented profits enjoyed by these corporations go beyond regular business gains; they tip into the realm of exceedingly unfair profiteering. To address this disparity, it's crucial to impose a comprehensive windfall tax on such excessive corporate earnings.
Today utility prices will rise as the energy cap increases. How can this possibly be anything other than morally irreprehensible when the companies taking this money are making EXCESS profits. Many other companies are not paying the full tax they should be either!
Do you pay 25-50% tax as an individual? Then why not the energy, and utilities companies et al?
This proposed windfall tax is not about penalizing success. It is about addressing excess and ensuring corporations share their windfall profits with society during economically challenging times. A report by the Centre for Policy Studies in 2019 documented that the UK's largest energy firms made a profit of over £1 billion - a sharp contrast to the struggles of the average Briton trying to pay their bills. [Source: Centre for Policy Studies]
The energy firm profits tracker report indicates the energy businesses made £457 Billion since the start of the energy crisis. Additionally taxwatchuk.org also reported there are 7 further corporations making in excess of £80 billion and paying little or not tax.
Why should pressure be brought to bear on pensioners to do without winter fuel allowance? why should the public pay more tax? why should our pensions be raided?
By signing this petition, you're calling on our government to ensure that any profits which are truly excessive are redistributed for the benefit of all. It's time to prioritise the people who are struggling over the corporations raking in astronomical profits.
Please, sign this petition and be a part of the movement demanding a fair implementation of a windfall tax on excess corporate profits. Stand up for justice in our economy.
