The Issue

I have lived in Pasadena, Anne Arundel County, for nearly 40 years, my entire life. I've seen our community change drastically, and not for the better. What was once a peaceful community has become a bustling, overdeveloped area filled with traffic and chaos. We're witnessing the erosion of our way of life, replaced by a relentless tide of construction and its aftermath.

In recent years, Anne Arundel County has approved over 10,000 new homes within a 10-mile radius, including areas like Marley Neck Road, Brumwells, and Long Hill Road. These developments have been approved without any sustainable upgrades to essential services. Our school systems are overwhelmed, emergency services are under-resourced, traffic conditions are unbearable, and our infrastructure is stretched to its limits. All of this has happened while the local government continues to greenlight project after project.

Our fire stations are understaffed, our schools overcrowded, and our roads gridlocked. The quality of life for every Pasadena resident has steadily diminished as our local leaders prioritize relentless development over the needs and voices of their constituents. Each approval for a new development is another nail in the coffin of the community spirit that once thrived here.

It is time for Anne Arundel County to pause and reconsider the impact of its decisions on the residents who call this place home. We urgently need a moratorium on new construction projects until there are guarantees of investments in our schools, emergency services, and infrastructure. The wellbeing of our community should take precedence over continuous expansion and economic gain.

Enough is enough! We cannot allow further destruction of our neighborhoods under the guise of progress. Our voices matter, and it is time they are heard. Stand with me in urging Anne Arundel County to implement a moratorium on new construction projects. Let us unite to protect the integrity and future of our beloved community. We deserve better. Please sign this petition to demand responsible and sustainable growth in our county.
